Seasonal Staff Specialty Jobs

Each year, in addition to our other seasonal staff positions, Omega has specialty job openings that require more experience, including full-time and part-time cooks, lifeguards, resident faculty, visiting faculty, artists-in-residence, and Wellness Center providers. These are full-season positions, starting in April or May and ending in October, and their compensation packages differ from other seasonal staff positions.

Head Chef

Omega Foodworks is the main dining facility at Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY.  Each year the Foodworks team produces more than 300,000 plant-based, farm-to-table meals.  To fulfill the needs of the Foodworks department, Omega is looking for a service oriented Head Chef.  This position will include benefits and a competitive salary.

Full-time & Part-time Cook

Seasonal staff cooks serve in the Omega FoodWorks department and work either full time (40 hours per week) or part time (30 hours per week). With support from the executive chef, chef de cuisine, sous chefs, and others, the cooks maintain a clean and safe kitchen; prepare meals; work within all kitchen stations and areas of production; understand proper labeling and storing of prepared food items; and provide creative input about meals.

Requirements include: flexibility regarding shift, station, and responsibilities; professional kitchen experience; knowledge of vegetarian cuisine; and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Lifeguard

Seasonal staff lifeguards work either full time (40 hours per week) or part time (30 hours per week) and are responsible for opening and closing the beach, supervising swimmers in a roped swim area, giving swim tests, enforcing lake rules, supervising boaters, and other tasks. Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining a safe and clean beach and grass area. Current Lifeguard, AED Essentials/First Aid, and Waterfront Module certification is required.

Resident Faculty & Visiting Faculty

Representing a variety of holistic disciplines, Resident Faculty and Visiting Faculty are seasoned and certified instructors who teach daily open classes and offer staff classes through our Holistic Studies Program. They live in our community for up to two weeks and teach approximately 20 hours per week in exchange for room and board, and a small stipend. Visiting Faculty teach in the following disciplines: yoga, tai chi, meditation, and dance or movement.

Wellness Center Provider

The Omega Wellness Center offers a variety of wellness services and therapeutic personal care treatments, and we welcome applications from professional individuals. We look for practitioners who are dedicated to the work they do and are flexible, committed, and interested in being a part of a team. We begin contacting applicants in January and continue throughout the season, dependent on our hiring needs. Wellness Center Providers live off-campus, or may rent tent space at Omega.

Omega Teen Camp (located in Holmes, New York)
