Robert Moss

A best-selling novelist, prize-winning journalist, independent scholar, and former lecturer in ancient history at the Australian National University, Robert Moss works with individuals and groups throughout the world, teaching innovative techniques to open personal paths to creativity and healing. He is the pioneer of Active Dreaming, an original synthesis of shamanism and modern dreamwork.

Robert Moss’s fascination with dreams dates from his childhood in Australia, where he survived three near-death experiences and first learned about the practices of a traditional dreaming people through his friendship with Aborigines. He now leads popular seminars all over the world, including a three-year training for teachers of Active Dreaming and a lively online dream school. His books on dreaming, shamanism, and imagination include Conscious Dreaming, The Three “Only” Things, The Secret History of Dreaming, Dreaming the Soul Back Home, Active Dreaming, and The Boy Who Died and Came Back, which is a personal narrative of his adventures in multidimensional reality.

Moss describes himself as “a dream teacher, on a path for which there has been no career track in our culture.” A central premise of Moss’ approach is that dreaming isn’t just what happens during sleep; dreaming is waking up to sources of guidance, healing, and creativity beyond the reach of the everyday mind.
