For one reason or another, many yoga practitioners over the age of 50 find it difficult to keep their practice strong as the body continues to change. When we gather together with like-minded friends to share our passion for life and practice, new possibilities emerge.
Through experiential practice, group yoga classes, and lively discussion, we gain a greater understanding of our body and the inspiration to keep it going with strength, patience, and compassion. Working with props and partners, we guide the body and mind into new areas for stretching and strengthening.
A full range of poses will be explored, including standing poses, backbends, seated forward bends, twists, hip openers, arm balances, and inversions. This playful and challenging midlife yoga weekend is designed for those who want to stay in shape or get back in shape, and have no serious injuries. While there will be plenty of fun and laughter, this high-energy program is not recommended for beginners unless they have a solid understanding of the alignment principles of yoga and are already athletic by nature.
Yoga teachers also learn ways of helping their midlife students safely continue their practice.
Participants should have a regular yoga practice and be in relatively good physical condition.
