Description

“My most amazing healing experiences have been in community,” says Lewis Mehl-Madrona.

When we sit together in community, we sit in the center of a circle. According to Native American spiritual tradition, that circle is contained by seven directions: west, east, north, south, sky, earth, and within the self. “Story,” Mehl-Madrona says, “is what connects all the directions. Story is how we understand our experiences and make meaning of them.”

Lewis Mehl-Madrona leads this workshop as a ceremony to weave experience and learning, and move toward change and transformation. During the week we:
• Learn about and participate in various healing circles
• Discover the elements of a story
• Find out how stories function in our lives today and how they functioned within indigenous societies
• Explore the dialectic relationship between traditional and post-modern cultures

This workshop offers anyone a powerful experience in the Native American tradition of healing from the seven directions, and is also of interest to helping professionals who want to tap these traditions and the healing function of story to use in their practices.
