When great songwriters talk about writing, they speak of being a vehicle of the muse, or being a channel through which inspiration flows.
In this workshop, we learn to open the channels of inspiration and invite the muse to flow through us to reveal our inner song. Legendary singer-songwriter Eric Andersen—along with his wife, composer-singer-songwriter Inge Andersen, and his daughter, singer-songwriter and yoga teacher Sari Andersen Bouret—share effective techniques, methods, and wisdom to guide us in our own creative process.
We begin each morning with relaxed yoga and movement exercises, adapted for each individual’s body and level of experience. As we release habituated holding patterns in the body and mind, energy flows more freely, connecting us with the wellspring of creativity. From this open space, we dive into song and explore various writing exercises to access our muse.
In a supportive and collaborative environment, we share tips and gain new tools to create our own songs, which may be shared at a “write-and-tell” concert. The program includes a Sunday evening concert performed by Sari, Inge, and Eric Andersen.
No experience in yoga or songwriting is necessary.
