Women leading change in these dynamic times are tuning into new sources of inspiration—personally, socially, and globally. They are seeking guidance in how to be more adaptive, resilient, networked, and systemic—all things we can learn from the natural world around us.

Biomimicry is the practice of turning to the natural world as a model, mentor, and measure, emulating nature’s genius to address our own sustainability challenges. This new discipline can provide life-affirming guidance for leadership and helps us answer questions like: What might we learn about cooperation from a forest ecosystem? How can nature’s feedback loops inspire us in cultivating our networks? How can bee colonies mentor us for self-organizing within a community?

During the weekend we learn to integrate biomimicry methods with leadership practices. We are introduced to “Life’s Principles”—design lessons from nature—and natural mentors who embody them.

We ground our understanding through experiential, nature-based, and sense-infused learning. Engaging with the natural landscape of Omega’s campus, we enrich our own leadership practice in ways that create conditions conducive to a healthy life while enlivening our own effectiveness.
