Compassion as the Source of Fearlessness: A Buddhist Viewpoint
The idea that compassion can be a source of fearlessness seems contrary in a world where courage is often synonymous with steeling one’s heart. But in this keynote Samdhong Rinpoche, the newly elected prime minister of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile, tells us that Buddhism believes that the source of fearless is an open heart; that compassion and lovingkindness make us warriors for peace and the principles of nonviolence—both within ourselves and in the world.
