A passionate explorer of outer as well as inner frontiers, Johnson has camped alone in the Arctic Circle; worked as a life drawing model, street sweeper, and award-winning multimedia producer; written a speech for Russian cosmonauts to broadcast to the United Nations from Mir on Earth Day; and hiked through Greece.
Johnson is the author of The World Is a Waiting Lover: Desire and the Quest for the Beloved, in which she explores how desire can transcend human relationships and be applied to our relationship with life, the world, and the divine. She has written about myth, nature, spirit, and other topics for numerous national publications, including Parabola, Sierra, The Nation, and Harper's. Johnson lives with her husband Andrew Gardner, in rural northeastern Pennsylvania. |
