Sophie Slade, PhD, grew up in England and lived in France
before immigrating to Canada. A student of psychology,
she became particularly interested in couples’ relationships
after going through her own divorce. Her studies focused
on relationship satisfaction and the personality fit between
partners in adult love relationships. She received her
doctorate from Concordia University in 1992. Eventually
discovering the work of Harville Hendrix and Imago Relationship
Therapy, she became a certified Imago Relationship Therapist
in 1992 and later a certified Imago workshop presenter.
In 2005, she became certified to train new Imago Relationship
Therapists. She offers her workshops and trainings in both
English and French throughout North America and Europe.
Slade is an active member of the board of Imago Relationships
International, contributing to the ongoing development
of Imago theory and practice. Her poetry and theoretical
articles have been published in the Journal of Imago
Relationship Therapy and The Imago Dialogue.
Slade lives with her husband, David Howarth, in Montreal,
Canada, where she maintains a private practice working
with couples, individuals, and groups.
