John P. Forsyth, PhD

John P. Forsyth, PhD, is a clinical scientist, licensed psychologist, and an expert in the treatment of anxiety disorders and the benefit of mindfulness-based therapies. He leads workshops internationally on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which combines mindfulness and aceptance strategies with commitment and behavior change strategies to help people end suffering and live a fuller life.

Forsyth is associate professor of psychology and director of the doctoral program in clinical psychology and the Anxiety Disorders Research Program at the University at Albany, State University of New York. A clinical fellow of the Behavior Therapy and Research Society, Forsyth serves on the editorial boards of several leading journals and has been recognized with several prestigious awards for his work, including both the University at Albany and SUNY Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in Teaching.

Forsyth is coauthor of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Anxiety Disorders, ACT on Life, Not on Anger, and The Mindfulness and Acceptance Workbook for Anxiety.
