Mind, Body, Spirit - OCSL

Helena Bacellar

faculty member Helena Bacellar has been dancing most of her life. She was first exposed to Argentine tango in 1998 and immediately was taken by the depth, presence and sensuality of the dance and its music. Helena has studied with Fabian Salas, Carlos Gavito, Suzana Miller, Carina Losano, Pablo Fontana, Eric Jorgensen, Brigitta Winkler, and Brooke Burdette. She has assisted Joe Petrisko and Chan Park in teaching tango in the Washington DC area.

Helena also practices meditation and Hatha yoga. She graduated from the year-long Anusara Yoga Teacher Training program at Willow Street Yoga in Maryland and has been teaching regularly for 2 years. She is a RYT-200 member of the Yoga Alliance. For Helena, Tango Zen combines her passion for dancing with the meditative and transcending quality of yoga. It is a beautiful expression of the heart, a way to develop awareness, mindfulness and to be fully present in the world, while sharing the experience with a partner.
