Nahid Angha, Ph.D.
Nahid Angha, Ph.D., is the codirector of the International Association of Sufism (IAS), founder of the Sufi Women Organization (SWO), main representative of the IAS NGO/DPI to the United Nations, and the first Muslim woman inductee to the Marin Women’s Hall of Fame, 2005.
Nahid has served in various leadership roles in large-scale international interfaith organizations, including: president of the board of directors of the Interfaith Center at the Presidio (San Francisco); member of the assembly of the Parliament of the World Religions, Cape Town and Barcelona; and member of the advisory board of the Institute for World Religions.
She has lectured worldwide, including the following talks: Humanitarian Intervention: A Way Towards Global Peace, at the United Nations; Women in Islam, at the Council for the Parliament of the World Religions, Cape Town; and Sufism: Literature and Poetry, at the Smithsonian Institute, Washington, D.C. |
