Pilar Gerasimo
Pilar Gerasimo is founding editor and editor-in-chief of Experience Life magazine, an award-winning publication that challenges the conventions of hype and superficiality in favor of a whole-person, whole-life perspective. She is also vice president of education for Life Time Fitness.
Gerasimo was raised by a sociologist father and a “back-to-the-land” mother, and grew up between college campuses and a Midwestern organic farm. She attended a rural four-room grade school, an urban alternative public high school, and then studied comparative literature and French at Mills College in California. After graduating, she taught briefly in Paris on a Fulbright scholarship before moving to Minnesota where she worked in marketing, advertising, and custom publishing.
Gerasimo was previously editor-in-chief at ICON, the magazine of the American Society of Interior Designers, and served as executive editor at Hanley-Wood Custom Publishing, where she worked on creative marketing, branding, and custom publishing projects for FedEx and other corporate clients.
With an abiding passion for learning and sharing, Gerasimo is a natural public speaker. Her weekly radio show, “Get a Whole Life,” covers topics ranging from emotional fitness to life balance to natural wellness and various aspects of the LOHAS (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability) marketplace.
She currently lives on a cooperative family farm western Wisconsin, where she also chairs her local town board.
