Travel Information
There is no airport on St. John; you will need to fly to St. Thomas. Airport policy suggests you arrive at the airport 2 hours before your scheduled departure time. Due to recent security Initiatives In the US the state Department Is looking at changes In travel document requirements to and from the Caribbean. Please check with your local travel agent for the most recent requirements to and from the US Virgin Islands.
Ideal travel arrangements would have you arriving at the St. Thomas airport before 2:00 p.m. on the first Saturday of your program and departing some time after 3:00 p.m. the following Saturday.
Arrivals
Group Transportation
Omega arranges for one group shuttle to Maho Bay, leaving at 2:15 p.m. on arrival Saturday from the St. Thomas airport; the Omega representative will be easy to find. This is not part of the package and costs approximately $35 (one way), which will be collected at the time the service is used. There is no pre-registration for this pick up. Your flight must arrive at the St. Thomas airport before 2:00 p.m.
Individual Transportation
If you are unable to take the 2:15 p.m. Omega shuttle, or prefer to travel to Maho Bay on your own, transportation is readily available:
- Take a taxi or shuttle van from the St. Thomas airport to Red Hook landing (20-45 minutes).
- Take a ferry from Red Hook landing to Cruz Bay on St. John. Ferries leave every hour from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. (20-25 minutes).
- From the Cruz Bay dock, you can take the island shuttle bus or a taxi to Maho Bay (approximately 30 minutes, part of the ride is on a bumpy dirt road).
Transportation to Maho Bay from St. Thomas is approximately $35 (one way).
Departures
An Omega group shuttle from Maho Bay to the St. Thomas airport will arrive at the airport at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. If your departure is earlier than 3:00 p.m., you will need to travel to St. Thomas on your own.
Individual Transportation
The Cruz Bay Ferry runs hourly commuter ferries to St. Thomas from 6:00 a.m. to midnight (Check times upon arrival on St. John.)
