Teaching is a vocation essential to creating a more peaceful and just community. Teachers prepare youth to shape the future; by teaching with passion, energy, and commitment, teachers revitalize society as a whole.

As teachers, we aspire to create environments in which our students transform their understanding of self and world. Yet, we often struggle to find the spark that originally motivated us to teach.

At this special gathering with some of the nation's most renowned education experts, we reconnect with our original inspiration to teach. We explore new motivations for teaching and pinpoint inner and outer obstacles to applying our inspiration in the classroom. We consider the spiritual dimensions of our craft and identify how moments of meaning take place in the classroom, and the teaching strategies that invite those moments. We also articulate an ethic of connection in education, exploring the ways in which a holistic approach to teaching and learning creates the peaceful and just community we seek.
