Zen master Dogen taught that sitting meditation is "the dharma gate of ease and joy." Patanjali defined asana as "posture that is stable and easeful." In the stillness of meditation, we can experience the body intimately, letting go of our clinging identification with the body as "me" or "mine." But how do we experience a deep ease when our bodies are often filled with tension, pain, or self-deprecation?
In this workshop, we learn a comprehensive, fully integrated practice of mindfulness yoga, applying the Buddha's teaching on the Four Establishments of Mindfulness (body, feelings, mind, and objects of mind) and conscious breathing (anapanasati) to the movements and postures of yoga asana.
Appropriate for people at all levels of meditation and yoga experience, this workshop teaches us how to cultivate mindfulness in our daily lives, practice yoga designed to open stiff hips, strengthen sore backs, and relax tense shoulders and necks, and experience deeper self-awareness and freedom.
