This is the first gathering of black people at Omega that focuses on the potential impact of yoga on health, race, and the politics of being black in America.
This is a time to relax and renew, but also a call to action for black people to gather for healing and renewal of body, mind, and spirit. We come together to learn about the ancient Kemetic-African tradition of yoga and open to spirit through sharing stories, drumming, dancing, and laughter.
Black yoga teachers guide us to discover the benefits of yoga for ourselves and our community. Together we examine the current health challenges brought on by the silent killers—stress, hypertension, obesity, and diabetes—and how yoga can help us recover and make lifestyle changes that are in tune with our true natures.
Enter within to explore yoga philosophy with Maya Breuer. Elevate your knowledge about the African roots of Kemetic yoga with Yirser Ra Hotep. Express yourself through the yoga of African drum and dance with Abigail "Ifatola" Jefferson. Experience the yoga of Sankofa that honors our past with Jana Long, and engage in the yoga of martial arts with Swami Dinndayal N. Morgan.
Teachers, students, and those who have never done yoga find something inspirational and joyful at this retreat. Join us as we reconnect with our roots, rhythm, and soul.
CE available. Special schedule.
