Trauma comes in all sizes, from the shock of a car accident to the momentous impact of war. Regardless of the severity of the event or situation, trauma leaves lasting effects, and it is important to recognize its impact on us, our family, and our friends.

It is perfectly normal to feel stressed and upset after a traumatic event; grief, nightmares, flashbacks, anxiety, and difficulties in living life “normally” are very common symptoms of post-traumatic stress.

In this workshop, trauma specialist Monique Lang uses lecture, meditation, group discussion, writing, and drawing to help us identify and recognize the impact of trauma on our physical, emotional, and mental bodies. Together we practice simple, effective techniques that can lessen these feelings, facilitate healing, and help us under-stand the ripple effect of trauma in our lives and the lives of loved ones and clients.

Those affected by a traumatic event, as well as professionals, are invited.

Monique Lang, LCSW, author of Healing From Post-Traumatic Stress and coauthor of Journey to Wholeness: Healing From the Trauma of Rape, has 30 years of experience as a psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of trauma. She is on the faculty of the Trauma Studies Center of the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy and has served on the faculties of Columbia University School of Social Work, SUNY Stony Brook Department of Child Welfare, and Mercy College Department of Psychology.
