Track I: Beyond Yes™:
Turning Breakdowns
Into Breakthroughs

The Beyond Yes™ method, originated at the Harvard Negotiation Insight Initiative, explores the interplay between the best practices of negotiation and insights of the great wisdom traditions, moving people from competence toward mastery. In this program, we learn how to work with timeless principles and our own life story to deepen and expand our effectiveness at engaging and resolving our toughest conflicts, both with others and within ourself.

Erica Ariel Fox, JD, teaches negotiation at Harvard Law School and is founder of the Global Negotiation Insight Institute. Internationally recognized as a pioneer in the integration of wisdom traditions and spiritual practice into the negotiation and conflict resolution field, she is also a partner of Mobius Executive Leadership.

Track II: Conflict Revolution:
Fostering Personal & Global Transformation

Track II is Cancelled.

Explore how to use conflict resolution techniques to solve personal, social, economic, political, and environmental problems, while simultaneously improving the way we grow personally. We investigate a unified approach to interpersonal and institutional conflicts, as well as techniques that can be used to facilitate transformation in a wide variety of cases. As we explore the obstacles to inner and outer change, we learn to apply methods to overcome them and ways of encouraging global citizenship.

Kenneth Cloke, director of the Center for Dispute Resolution, specializes in resolving multiparty conflicts and designing conflict resolution systems for organizations. He is president of Mediators Beyond Borders and author of several books including Mediating Dangerously.

Track III: Multiple Intelligences & the Practice of Law

Track III is cancelled.

This interactive course explores the mental, emotional, social, and spiritual intelligences that lawyers need to operate effectively in their professional and personal lives. We analyze the groundbreaking work of psychologists like Howard Gardner and Daniel Goleman and apply their insights to the practice of law. We examine our own practice skills and values, and discover strategies about how to nurture and develop these specialized intelligences. Experienced practitioners and new members to the legal profession are encouraged to attend.

David Hall, a distinguished professor at Northeastern School of Law, has been described in the Wall Street Journal as "one of the most important leaders in legal education today." He is author of The Spiritual Revitalization of the Legal Profession.

Track IV: Cultivating Presence

An experience of presence offers us the kind of grounding we need to respond spontaneously, listen deeply, communicate our deepest intentions, and see old situations in new ways. Drawing on theater techniques, voice work, vipassana (insight) meditation, and authentic movement, we learn how to cultivate and maintain our presence in the midst of conflict. We also learn how to transform mental and physical habits that distract us from maintaining presence. Please wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing.

Anne Gottlieb is a senior consultant for Mobius Executive Leadership. She draws on theater techniques learned in her nearly 20 years as an actor and director to coach professionals in leadership presence and dynamic presentation.

The Global Negotiation Insight Institute also offers an Autumn Learning Forum, October 11–16, 2009.
