The Art of Leadership engages our minds and hearts in an intensive process of self-discovery as we learn to empower and engage others in effective action. It is designed for leaders committed to making a difference in their businesses and communities, particularly in education, politics, health care, and social change.
To achieve integration of profound inner transformation with immediate application to our everyday work priorities, Harvard-trained psychologist Robert Gass leads us through practical training in the three domains of leadership:
- Personal: Vision, personal power, managing our state of being, and personal ecology.
- Partnership: Expanding our ability to better collaborate through authenticity, deep listening, compassion, skillful communication, and feedback
- Organizational: Improving our capacity to create results through inquiry, planning, and teamwork
We also receive an extensive manual of materials and tools to support our ongoing work as leaders, and we participate in an online 360-degree leadership assessment.
This workshop is an expanded version of the well-known Art of Leadership workshop created by Robert Gass for the Rockwood Leadership Program.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to help their clients and themselves to:
- clarify and define their two- to three-year vision for successful leadership;
- evaluate their chief strengths and areas for improvement as a leader;
- increase their ability to successfully conduct difficult conversations;
- assess the effectiveness of their work team and develop plans for improvement;
- identify their primary patterns of unskillful emotional reactivity, and practice techniques for maintaining equanimity;
- practice skillful means for giving and receiving feedback; and
- examine and evaluate self-care habits, and develop plans for better time management and life balance.
This workshop begins Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. (arrive Tuesday) and ends Sunday at noon. $80 materials fee; include when you register. You will be contacted before the workshop to complete an online leadership assessment. Robert Gass is also teaching (with Judith Ansara) Sharing the Path, June 29-July 4; The Heart of Chanting, July 4-6 and is part of Ecstatic Chant August 29-September 1.
