The Practice of Quiet Power

In this fast-paced, yang-style world, the practice of Yin Yoga helps us maintain balance. Through long-held postures, we explore our compassionate, nonstriving, receptive yin nature and learn to recognize and move with the natural patterns of life.

With constant attention to the breath and sensations in the body, Yin Yoga helps us:

  • Develop a mindful meditation practice
  • Balance our yin and yang aspects
  • Increase the flow of qi or prana in the body, especially in the pelvic area
  • Maintain the health of our connective tissue
  • Reconnect to the meditative origins of yoga

Led by Biff Mithoefer and Kaline Alayna Kelly, we spend the mornings in guided practice and discussion of the Taoist roots of Yin Yoga. We talk about anatomy and how this style of yoga affects our yin meridians and associated organs.

In the afternoons, we practice in silence, giving us an opportunity to deepen into our own knowing and observe the powerful effects of this yoga on our physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual bodies.

This workshop is suitable for all levels of yoga and meditation practitioners, as well as yoga teachers wishing to incorporate Yin Yoga practices into their own teaching.

Biff Mithoefer and Kaline Alayna Kelly are also teaching Sharing Peace, October 9-11. Kaline Alayna Kelly is also teaching (with Arnaud L’Hermitte) The Sacred Dance of Thai Massage, June 7-12, and is part of Being Yoga, August 21-23.
