Join Robert Gass and special musical guests in a weekend of ecstatic chanting. Designed for both beginner and experienced chanters, this experiential retreat includes:
- Different styles of chants, including kirtan, Sufi zhikr, and chants from Buddhist, Christian, Afro-Cuban, Goddess, and Jewish traditions
- Practices designed to free our voices in full and uninhibited expression
- Explorations of the physical, emotional, and spiritual powers of chant
- Toning and meditation
- Work with the healing powers of chant
- Movement, prayer, and dance
The ancient practice of chanting opens the heart, clears the mind, and relaxes the body. When we chant in joyful communion with others, our boundaries soften and we may experience the living reality of spiritual concepts such as bliss, devotion, and inner peace. Come prepared to sing your heart open and let your spirit soar!
Robert Gass is also teaching Sharing the Path (with Judith Ansara) June 29-July 4; Art of Leadership, September 2-7; and is part of Ecstatic Chant, August 29-September 1.
For more than 30 years, Robert Gass, EdD, has been a pioneer in the revival of sacred chant in the West. He is author of the book Chanting: Discovering Spirit in Sound. With his renowned singing group, On Wings of Song, Gass’ recordings include Om Namaha Shivaya, Alleluia, and Ancient Mother. sacredunion.com
