Little Forest People

For kids ages 6-10

August 10, 2008 - August 15, 2008

Tuition: $210 (does not include accommodations or commuter fee)
Course: SM08-3605-232

The woods surrounding Omega are filled with magical groves, fun, fantasy, and little newts. The Rangers are looking for boy and girl junior rangers to help them build forts, climb fallen trees, swing from vine-like ropes, and cook up a hearty batch of bread-on-a-stick. Rangers have been known to carry out raids on the grownups, then retreat to their forest haven to create woodland sculptures, drum, and have forest rituals. Half of the program is spent in the woods; the other half is spent boating, swimming, spotting painted turtles, and exploring the natural (and supernatural) wonders of the Omega lake. Campers should come to camp on the first morning with an old pair of sneakers, a bathing suit, and clothes that like to get wet and dirty.

All campers go to the lake and forest our first morning together; please dress your children so they are comfortable and prepared.

The Ranger Staff is a team with extensive experience running youth programs that nurture and challenge children in safe environments. Led by Ranger Woody Watson, RN, a veteran educator of more than 30 years, the team includes Ranger Jay Cook, musician, teacher, and storyteller extraordinaire, and Ranger Carole Prescott, a child development professional, and other counselors.
