This training provides a unique opportunity to learn Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT), a healing modality that combines the best of ancient yogic wisdom with the cutting-edge of contemporary therapeutic insights.

PRYT methods are based upon the hypothesis that most of our fundamental attitudes in life have their physical counterparts in the body. Assisted yoga postures are coupled with contemporary approaches of focusing awareness to integrate various aspects of ourselves. We then use this information to initiate desirable change. PRYT is an effective modality for the treatment of pain and various other conditions, and is most useful as an awareness enhancing personal growth tool.

In this training, we deepen our own growth while also learning to support others. We learn techniques for assisting clients in yoga therapy postures; gain an understanding of each posture's physical and metaphysical significance; and discover how the postures are used to support the transformational process. Basic dialogue techniques, precautions, preparations, variations, counter postures, and transitions are also addressed.

Some yoga experience is helpful, but not a prerequisite. $75 materials fee; include when you register.

Elissa Cobb, MA, ACE, ACSM, is codirector of programs at Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. She is a certified PRYT practitioner, yoga teacher, and group facilitator who has been practicing and teaching yoga, yoga therapy, and other movement modalities for more than 20 years. pryt.com
