According to Buddhist tradition, a bodhisattva lives to benefit others and show them the way to their own enlightenment. We each carry the potential to be a bodhisattva, to live with a fearless, caring, and joyful heart, and to embody our Buddha nature wherever we are.
Based on Jack Kornfield's new book The Wise Heart, this retreat draws from ancient wisdom and modern science as we explore meditation, body and mind strategies, and storytelling. Through practices in love and skillful means, Kornfield and Trudy Goodman give us tools to sustain joy and compassion amid the speed and complexity of modern life, both in good times and hard times.
The weekend includes a ceremony where we may take or reaffirm bodhisattva vows, and set the direction of our heart.
Bring a meditation cushion or bench, if you have one. Chairs and cushions are provided. Expect to maintain some periods of silence outside of class sessions.
