Sleep is the most important meditation. Not for nirvana, but for survival!
—The Dalai Lama
If you're suffering from insomnia or fitful sleep, this yoga workshop can help you get a good night's rest. We begin the weekend with a discussion of the root causes of stress-induced insomnia while identifying the riches we have to gain, in body and spirit, through deep, natural sleep.
During the workshop, Ann Dyer methodically guides us through asana (posture) sequences, breathing techniques, chants, and guided meditations designed to lure us into dreamland. We also discuss the risks of insomnia, daytime choices for bedtime success, designing a customized bedtime ritual, and what to do when we wake during the night.
We return home with a yoga prescription for insomnia, one that will have us sleeping easily and waking to greet the new day rested and refreshed. This workshop is appropriate for anyone at any level of yoga experience, and anybody who needs better sleep, including those suffering from general anxiety, exhaustion, attention deficit disorder, or menopausal symptoms.
CE available.
Ann Dyer, yoga instructor and vocal artist, is known for her unique blending of asana and sound. Dubbed "the near-perfect sleep guru" by Yoga Journal, her latest venture, Zyoga: The Yoga Sleep Ritual, is a creative collaboration with Sleep Garden Enterprises on the use of yoga for stress-induced insomnia. Dyer resides in Oakland, California where she is on staff at Rodney Yee's Piedmont Yoga Studio. www.anndyeryoga.com |
