Anaïs Maviel is a vocalist and composer whose work focuses on the function of art to address relation. Connecting intimacy and subconscious narratives with collective and large-scale principles, she navigates song, choral, instrumental music, and staging with a strong connection to cosmologies of sound and speech rooted in oral traditions such as mantra and ring shout.

Anaïs holds a master’s degree from Paris Diderot University in modern literature, aesthetics, and contemporary thought. She has collaborated with William Parker, Meshell Ndegeocello, Pauline Kim Harris, and Okwui Okpokwasili, among others. Her solo albums hOULe and in the garden received international acclaim. Anaïs is a 2023 New Music USA Next Jazz Legacy awardee and a 2023 Herb Alpert Award in Music nominee.
