Trina Basu is a violinist, improviser, composer, and teacher of Indian and Canadian descent, based in New York City. Her musical voice explores contemporary and traditional worlds inspired by Indian classical ragas, chamber music, American folk, and improvised music. Trina is a cofounder of the nonprofit musicians collective Brooklyn Raga Massive and co-leads Karavika, a chamber quartet that draws from South Asian repertoire.

Trina frequently collaborates with dancers, poets, and visual artists in various multidisciplinary projects. She has performed on stages with esteemed artists like Mos Def, Urban Bush Women, Ed Sheeran, Ledisi, Taylor Mac, Dr. John, Reggie Workman, and on the award-winning Broadway musical Hadestown.
