About Our Food

Omega FoodWorks produces three delicious mostly vegetarian meals every day. We offer a wide range of food options at each meal to help you meet your dietary needs, including a variety of main dishes accompanied by an extensive selection of complementary items.

We recognize that each individual has different nutritional needs, and we are confident that our menu can accommodate everyone. We encourage you to think about meeting your nutritional needs over the course of the day, so we provide a weekly menu to help you plan your meals—look for the current week's menu posted around campus when you arrive. (See a sample menu.)

In the Dining Hall there are two main buffet lines, as well as food stations in the back and on the sides of the room. Many guests walk around the Dining Hall to explore all the options available before deciding what to eat. Each menu item has an ingredient card so you can see all the ingredients in a dish. With such a wide range of foods available, you have the option to create your own unique and delicious meal.

A Varied Menu
Our mostly vegetarian meals, served buffet style in the Dining Hall, typically include the following:

  • Soup
  • Entrée
  • Vegetable side dish
  • Grain dish
  • Complete salad bar with fresh veggies, cheeses, nuts, seeds, prepared salads, and homemade salad dressings, including dairy and nondairy options
  • Breads and crackers
  • Beverages: juice, local milk, rice and soy milk, tea, and fair-trade organic coffee

 Additional items to complement the main menu include:

  • Wheat-free and gluten-free breads
  • Vegan alternatives to dishes containing dairy
  • Omega Essentials Bar: Plain foods, including steamed vegetables, beans, grains, whole wheat pasta, gluten-free pasta, and sauce
  • Alternative sweeteners: agave nectar, honey, evaporated cane juice, and stevia
  • Variety of condiments, including gluten-free options

Gluten Sensitivity
There are many gluten-free options at Omega. The Omega Essentials Bar, salad bar, and main dishes regularly contain gluten-free options, and there is always gluten-free bread. At breakfast, we provide gluten-free cold cereal. Condiments like tamari and miso are also gluten-free.

Plenty of Protein
We are a mostly vegetarian kitchen, but this doesn't mean we skip the protein. Eggs are always available at breakfast. At lunch and dinner, we serve cheese, nuts, seeds, peanut butter, and vegetarian protein alternatives (expect to see tofu, tempeh, seitan, or textured vegetable protein). You can also combine whole grains and legumes from the Omega Essentials Bar with nuts and seeds to make a complete protein.

The Omega Café offers a rotating menu of nonvegetarian options, like tuna sandwiches or turkey chili, for purchase.

Guest Kitchen Space
We do not have the capacity to cook for individual guests, but guests have 24-hour access to a shared kitchen (also used by our seasonal staff), that includes a microwave, hot water, and a guest-only refrigerator and freezer.
