Description

This workshop has been cancelled.

Over the past decade, Art21 has established itself as the preeminent chronicler of contemporary art and artists through its Peabody Award-winning biennial television series, Art in the Twenty-First Century.

In addition to its PBS series, Art21 serves teaching artists, educators, and students by providing programs that explore contemporary art and artists, including the widely distributed Educators’ Guides.

This contemporary art education workshop with Art21’s senior education advisor, Joe Fusaro, focuses on ways artists and educators can explore Art21 films to use them as a catalyst for creativity, as well as incorporating contemporary art in and out of the classroom.

Through a combination of viewing, group discussion, reflective writing, and hands-on experience, we develop a more thorough understanding of contemporary art, while art educators also learn how to bring contemporary art and artists into the classroom.

Anyone interested in learning about contemporary art, especially teaching artists and teachers of contemporary art education, is invited.
