Concurrent Sessions
Saturday 3:30–5:30 p.m.

Concurrent Interactive Session #1 - Experiencing Gender Reconciliation
Cynthia Brix, Will Keepin, Jennifer Buffett, Peter Buffett, Zanele Khumalo, and John Tsungme Guy

Gender Reconciliation creates safe spaces for women and men to engage in experiential, interactive exercises and dialogues to address issues rarely discussed aloud. This session builds trust and authentic communication where we can speak truth to our pain without blame and shame, and move beyond to reclaim mutual harmony and beloved community. There will also be a powerful dialogue with Jennifer Buffett and Peter Buffett on intimate relationships, and an interactive conversation with leaders of Gender Reconciliation based in the U.S. and South Africa.

Concurrent Interactive Session #2 - Moving Beyond Our Stories
Vinny Ferraro and Pam Dunn

It is one thing to know a person by their gender, race, accomplishments, or “image.”  It is a completely different process to connect to each other’s humanity and learn who we really are through the details that are often missing in our day-to-day encounters. Many of us are so afraid of becoming vulnerable that we end up settling for superficial relationships and conversations. As a result, we may spend our lives feeling separate. In this session—in small and large groups, through discussion, mindfulness meditation, and other exercises—we explore taking the risk to see past our conditioning, our assumptions, and our stories in order to truly connect and heal that which divides us.

Concurrent Interactive Session #3 - Embodying the Dialogue
Hudson River Playback Theatre: Jo Salas, Matteo Undici, Jody Satriani, Lauren Ardman, Ricardo Perez Gonzalez, and Ann Belmont

Participants are invited to give voice to reflections and memories prompted by conference themes. Hudson River Playback Theatre’s gifted and diverse improvisers will listen deeply, then skillfully co-create short theatre pieces using movement, imagery, spoken word, and music. There will also be opportunities for dialogue and creative expression in small groups. The respectful process of Playback Theatre honors divergent voices, illuminates commonalities, and weaves a tapestry of shared vision in action.
