Healing Elements for Renewal & Empowerment
Replenish your energy fields and renew your inner sources through energy field alignment, expansion of core presence, and inspirational and fun group experiences. As we actively open our energy systems to more life force, pleasure, and embodied strength and power, we are nurtured and enlivened by the healing power of community.
GirlTrek: A Walking Cleanse (Note special schedule: 9:15 a.m.–10:15 a.m.)
T. Morgan Dixon & Vanessa Garrison
Join us for a brisk morning walk along three miles of scenic back roads. Take deep cleansing breaths and sweat out your stress, anxiety, or fear. Together, we retrace the steps of great women, grassroots organizers, bus boycotts, and spiritual leaders who used walking as a statement, a conversation, and meditation. As our feet create a cadence, we call on the women who walked before us to renew our sense of purpose on this Earth. You'll have space for personal reflection and sister-girl conversation. Come ready to hustle and we guarantee you will leave with a "GirlTrek Glow."
Learning Self-Defense Strategies
Strengthening Our Bodies & Spirits
In this workshop, we practice a combination of physical self-defense techniques, verbal strategies including boundary setting, and relaxing and reenergizing exercises to let go of stress. We use our voices with our bodies in new and old ways to feel our individual and collective power.
Brightening the Path With Music That Moves You
Come listen and move to the transformative rhythms of drummer, teacher, and performer Ubaka Hill. Her spirited and engaging drumming connects us with ancient traditions, leading us into our own personal power. We will be dancing, moving, and shaking. Feel free to bring your instruments. No experience is necessary.
This workshop encourages us to look at leadership as a lifelong learning and development process. Who are our best life teachers (including those that presented us with the hardest lessons) and what did they teach us? Using a simple memoir format, we create our own unique relational leadership retrospective. Open to everyone; no writing skills are required.
Afro Flow Yoga™
Leslie Salmon Jones
Afro Flow Yoga™ infuses a meditative yoga sequence of gentle yet powerful stretches with dance movements from West Africa and the Caribbean. Deeply connect with the soulful rhythm of live drums, we energize the chakras, gain strength and flexibility, and rejoice in feeling fully alive, grounded, peaceful, and free. This workshop is open to people of all backgrounds and levels of dance and yoga. Beginners are welcome.
Meditation for Mind, Body & Soul
Chung Hyun Kyung
In this multidimensional meditation practice, we will bow, sit, chant, and move to music, drawing from the traditions of Zen, metta (lovingkindness), and ecofeminist tai chi. Come for gentle relaxation, a deep look at the self, and mythological body and soul movements created by Asian ecofeminist activist-mystics.
Sacred Fire Ceremony for Transformation
This fire ceremony allows us to release those aspects of ourselves we feel no longer serve us. Leaving them behind during this sacred ritual, we have the opportunity to feed the fire with old sorrows and regrets and at the same time bring new light and spark into our lives. In this safe and sacred space, through singing and ritual, Marcela Lobos invites us to join an ancient and timeless ceremony.
