Conquer the Enemy Within

Developing the Tools to Unlock Your Full Potential

August 07, 2015 – August 09, 2015
Rhinebeck, NY
Barry Michels, Phil Stutz

We are no longer taking online registrations for this workshop.

You have the potential to live a much fuller life, where you wake up every morning feeling enthusiastic about the day ahead and throw yourself into everything you do—not because you have to, but because you want to.

You are fully capable of having a rewarding, purposeful life, but a powerful inner enemy prevents you from embracing this reality, making each day seem drab and repetitive. When you can’t stand the tedium any longer, it creates false substitutes for real life, excites you with momentary pleasures or dramas that leave you feeling emptier, and convinces you to avoid life’s demands as they pile up and become overwhelming.

Phil Stutz and Barry Michels, coauthors of The Tools, call this enemy Part X. As psychotherapists with more than 60 years of combined experience, they have helped thousands of patients defeat it. In this workshop, you learn to overthrow Part X and live the way you were meant to—overflowing with love, joy, and creativity. Along with exploring the tools from their first book, you also learn about new tools and material that Stutz and Michels are developing.

More Information

This workshop begins Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Faculty has also asked that we pass along the following note:

Hello! To get the most out of the workshop, we’d like you to spend some time thinking about the following question:

“In what way(s) do you feel you could be living a richer, more meaningful life?”

Please be as specific as you can be.  For example, one answer might be “Something’s missing in my relationship with my kid – I want to be closer to her but I don’t know where to begin.”  Or it could be, “I always come up with these great ideas for movies but when it comes time to put them on paper, something else always seems more important.”  Or, “I work for a successful company and there’s no question I’m as talented as the guys who run it.  But the moment I think about branching out and starting my own company, I get terrified.”

You get the idea?

Our goal is to help each and every one of you attain your goals, and it will help us if you would email us your answers – along with your name.  You can send the information to  Just one favor -- please keep your answers short; we’ll have a chance to discuss them fully with you in our first session on Friday, August 7.

We’re looking forward to spending the weekend with you!!

All the best,

Barry Michels and Phil Stutz
