Description

This weekend John Todd and Nancy Jack Todd, pioneers in the science of ecological design and coauthors of From Eco-Cities to Living Machines, guide us in developing our ecological literacy—a practical understanding of the emerging science and practice of earth stewardship.

Using the Omega Center for Sustainable Living (OCSL) with its Eco Machine™ as a concrete rationale for the design conversation, we craft a broad meaning for ecological literacy, delving into its practical and sacred dimensions. We develop ecological solutions for ourselves, our households, and our communities that are sustainable and adapted to a world in which material resources are limited but information is rich and diverse.

Through lecture and discussion, we explore a set of problems that reflect current issues and concerns in our own communities, and work in teams to develop ecological design solutions adapted to real world problems. We conclude with explorations of an ecological way of living.
