Felt-making is painting and sculpture combined, an ancient textile process using wool fibers, water, and vigorous kneading.
In this workshop, you learn the basics of this tactile and transformative art medium, or what is referred to as the “wet” felt-making process. This process uses wool, water, soap, and your own two hands. You also explore different types of wool and learn how to use them for the best results.
By making a scarf, a pair of slippers, a purse, and a pillow with inlaid patterns, you come to understand the process and learn how to design your template, enlarge the pattern, lay down the layers, finish the edges, agitate the fibers, “full” the felt, and shape and finish your item.
This workshop is designed for beginners, but advanced artists of all kinds are also welcome.
