When you pay close attention to nature, you find artistic and culinary possibilities right in your backyard.

Explore the culinary treasure and artistic beauty of local wild plants as you learn to identify, draw, harvest, and prepare these ancient edible and medicinal plants.

This experiential workshop begins in the wilds of the Omega campus, where Dina Falconi introduces some of the many plants of the region, followed by a drawing lesson with Wendy Hollender. Hollender shares the techniques she uses to create botanically accurate illustrations, demonstrating the basic principles with easy to follow step-by-step lessons using colored pencils.

Through the process of drawing, you develop plant identification skills and gain a deeper understanding of the plants. Back in the field, you learn how to properly harvest useful plants.

Falconi then gives you the tools you need to create delicious, nutrient-dense recipes from her book Foraging & Feasting: A Field Guide and Wild Food Cookbook (which is illustrated by Hollender). Additional time will be allocated to continue botanical drawing techniques.
