A Retreat for Military Women & Women Veterans
Military women and women veterans face enormous challenges. The impact of Military Sexual Trauma (MST) has lasting effects on the mind, body, and spirit. Often characterized by betrayal and shame, MST can lead to unrealistic self-blame, difficulty trusting others, and avoidance of emotional and physical intimacy.
This women-only retreat for the military-veteran community (including active duty, reserve, guard, and all branches of the uniformed services) offers a safe and healing environment to explore facing and releasing traumatic stress and increasing resilience.
Based on the Warrior Renew program, this 5-day retreat is designed to address unique aspects of MST for women veterans and active duty service members. It provides skills to manage trauma symptoms and move toward resolving the past, as well as offering inspiration to move forward through life in a meaningful way.
Through therapeutic activities, including discussion, lectures, writing, mindful awareness, aromatherapy, movement, and group experiences using an integrative approach to healing, we:
- Work to resolve feelings of self-blame, anger, resentment, anxiety, grief, injustice, betrayal, and shame
- Address sleep issues, including nightmares and insomnia
- Develop effective self-regulation strategies and communication skills to voice our needs
We also explore the impact of MST on relationships and how to cultivate trust and sustain healthy loving connections with others.
