As women, many of us have an impulse to help others but we are not so good at caring for ourselves. In this yoga and meditation retreat for women, Cyndi Lee wants to help us reverse this pattern.
During the weekend, we focus on maître, a lovingkindness practice based on one of the traditional teachings of Buddhism. Lee guides us through the steps of the maître practice as we explore each of the components of one of the teaching’s fundamental slogans, “May I be happy, healthy, safe, and at ease.”
When we wish ourselves happiness, we integrate a fun, rollicking yoga class with contemplations on how to experience unconditional happiness. When we wish ourselves good health, we breathe to soothe the nervous system and practice sequences that help us connect to our natural goodness.
When we wish ourselves safety, we combine physical alignment principles with an exploration of how our aspirations and actions are aligning. When we wish ourselves a life of ease, we explore some relaxing, restorative yoga.
