Songwriting Mindfully

Described as “a soaring songstress” by Billboard magazine, recording artist Carrie Newcomer invites songwriters at all levels of experience to explore writing with attention to finding the spiritual thread that infuses our daily lives.

Newcomer approaches songwriting as a creative and spiritual practice. In this songwriting workshop we focus on the power, value, and healing inherent in telling our stories from our authentic voices and everyday experiences.

We learn helpful, practical tools for crafting effective songs; develop a mindful songwriting practice; and expand the borders and definition of spiritual writing. This songwriting workshop offers a combination of lecture, conversation, exploratory writing, and group and individual experiences designed to facilitate a spiritual framing of our daily lives and inspire us to ponder the beauty and meaning of our personal histories.

The workshop provides a safe, nurturing, and encouraging environment to write and sing about our lives. It welcomes all, including those who have previous experience in songwriting and those who are interested in exploring new ways to tell their personal and spiritual stories.
