Hudson River Playback Theatre

Hudson River Playback Theatre, a nonprofit organization based in New Paltz, New York, creates improvisational theatre based on audience members’ personal stories. Founded in 1990 by Playback Theatre cofounder Jo Salas, the ensemble provides performances to organizations and the community to build connection and dialogue on themes such as climate change. Major projects have included “No More Bullying!” in schools, and “Immigrant Stories,” over 100 bilingual shows for immigrant groups. HRPT has performed by invitation in London, Frankfurt, Montreal, Boston, Washington, DC, and New York City. Playback Theatre itself was created in 1975 and is now practiced in over 70 countries.
