Patricia Gerbarg

Patricia Gerbarg, MD, is assistant clinical professor in psychiatry at New York Medical College. A member of the American Psychiatric Association’s Task Force on Complementary and Integrative Psychiatry and a board member of the American Botanical Council, she lectures widely on the integration of standard and complementary treatments, and trains yoga therapists and health care providers in using mind-body practices with clients.
 
Dr. Gerbarg’s work includes research on mind-body practices for reducing stress for survivors of mass disasters and trauma, including natural disasters, terrorist attacks, slavery, environmental catastrophes, and veterans’ issues. 
 
She is coauthor, with Richard P. Brown, MD, of more than 30 scientific articles, chapters, and books, including The Rhodiola Revolution; How to Use Herbs, Nutrients, and Yoga in Mental Health Care; and The Healing Power of the Breath, which received a Living Now book award.
