Description

As we age, one of the most striking things we notice is how few positive visions exist for growing old. During this workshop, we explore ways to craft new attitudes, beliefs, practices, and celebrations for growing older.

Gail Straub offers this workshop as a cocreative dialogue focused on four pathways toward conscious aging: work, spirituality, creativity, and community.

As we look at ways to work less but work deeper, we find our unique rhythm of doing and being. Under the theme of spirituality, we seek to identify what to pay attention to and what to clear away as we age, and learn to let go of ego concerns as a spiritual practice for dying.

When we consider creativity, we explore ways to manifest our unfulfilled dreams, and share our wild and unexpected impulses. Finally, as we think about community, we delve into difficult conversations and unspoken taboos about aging.

This workshop is highly experiential and includes guided journal work, small group dialogue, artwork, and a council on conscious aging, where we share our fears, confusions, tears, and laughter. Together we envision how to reinvent ourselves in surprising ways to sustain meaning and joy later in life.
