Wonder in Everyday Life

This workshop has been cancelled.

Wonder has been called the beginning of all wisdom (Socrates), the first of all emotions (Descartes), the entryway to the Tao, and the seed of our creative genius.

While we often envy children for their unfettered ability to experience wonder, as adults we are also capable of cultivating and practicing a life of wonder. Such a practice can heighten our emotional intelligence, enhance our creativity, enrich our relationships, and help us navigate difficult times.

Inspirational author Diane Ackerman (teaching Friday evening only) leads conversations on the importance of wonder and how we can find it in everyday life, from taking the time to ponder a single raindrop, to swimming with whales in the ocean. By paying attention to our surroundings, we can experience the joy of wonderment, open our heart, and refresh our mind, body, and spirit.

Wonder-seeker Jeffrey Davis teaches us the four talents to track wonder and reclaim our original genius. We develop these talents through “wonder walks,” light meditation and breathing exercises, writing, wonder-conversations, and more.
