Use What You Know
In astrology, Jupiter represents style trends, among many other things. The largest of the planets (1,200 times the size of Earth) orbits our Sun in about 12 years, exerting so much gravity on our central star that the Sun oscillates as Jupiter tugs on it. By the way, you can tell that to anyone who claims that the obstetrician exerts more gravity on the newborn baby than does Jupiter (by which logic astrology cannot possibly be true). I've never seen a doctor cause a star to wobble. More

mountains in the clouds
We were two-thirds of the way to the top of Mount Washington when my right leg gave out. My friend Marc and I had planned this hike on the summer solstice for over a year. So we decided to do the climb even though it was drizzling, which it turned out, meant we could not stop as we became too chilled. I was soaked through and through (even through my rain gear), borderline hypothermic, and in major pain. Yet there was no solution except to keep going. More

Not all aggression looks the same. Any act, word, or gesture that pierces through into someone else’s personal space and causes the other to feel unsafe, threatened, or hurt is considered aggression. That could be a look, shouting, pulling a gun, or ignoring someone. More

Omega Institute Miso Vegetable Soup: A Cooking Meditation by Suzanne Boothby
A Cooking Meditation
Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh sums up Zen practice with these few words: “Smile, breathe, and go slowly.” In our busy lives, it's not uncommon to rush when preparing (and eating) a meal. But miso loses healthful enzymes and its aroma when boiled, so rushing is not the best strategy. Warming the soup slowly and gently requires mindful attention, which is the perfect opportunity to take Thich Nhat Hanh's advice. More
Omega Institute Walking Meditation 101

Examples: The Zen Buddhist practice of kinhin; the Native American vision quest; Kundalini Yoga's breathwalk practice; the Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist practice of parikrama; and the Christian practice of walking a labyrinth. More
Omega Institute Devotional Meditation & Prayer 101
What: Devotional meditation and prayer can help you cultivate a closer relationship with the divine. The practice typically takes place through spontaneous conversation with a higher power, a formalized method of prayer, or a meditation practice that is performed with an attitude of devotion. More

Omega Institute Visualization Meditation 101
What: Visual meditation is used in many spiritual traditions, including yoga, Taoism, Christianity, and Tibetan Buddhism, as well as in secular and therapeutic settings.  There are two primary forms of visual meditation. One is internal visualization, during which you focus on a mental image of a color, symbol, object, place, or situation. Two is gazing meditation, during which you stare at a fixed object (such as a tree, candle flame, or statue of a deity) to focus your mind.
