Featuring 20+ Prominent Leaders Across Sectors: September 17–19 (Plus Free Livestream Friday Night)

RHINEBECK, NY– The multiple crises of this past year have taken their toll. Women especially have experienced unprecedented setbacks in gender equality and economic rights—from bearing the brunt of caretaking during the pandemic, to a rise in gender and racial violence, to coping with the climate crisis, to threats in reproductive rights and the loss of basic freedoms at home and around the world. Despite these very significant challenges, women are also creating myriad ways to build a new global culture of care. The Omega Women’s Leadership Center (OWLC) has dedicated its 17thbiennial conference to helping women gain the resilience, stamina, and community needed in these times.

Women & Power: Reviving Connection, Creativity & Courage (September 17–19), will feature more than 20 pathbreaking women taking part in a panel of global leaders, inspiring keynotes, and performances. This community building weekend gives attendees an opportunity to both learn and restore together.

“This year’s gathering comes at a time when there is urgent need for women to build personal and collective resilience for the road ahead. There is power in coming together to nurture connection in our communities, and working across issues and borders with women around the world.” said Carla Goldstein, president of Omega, and cofounder of the Omega Women’s Leadership Center.

2021 Women & Power highlights include:

  • Keynotes by Elizabeth Lesser, Jamia Wilson, Salamishah Tillet, Liuba Grechen Shirley, and Diane Rosenfeld
  • A Global Panel featuring Connected Women Leaders, moderated by Pat Mitchell and featuring former president of Ireland Mary Robinson, Wanjira Mathai, Alaa Murabit, Michelle Nunn, and Ronda Carnegie
  • Moderated Conversations: Amy Poehler in conversation with Anne Lamott, moderated by Jamia Wilson; and Maria Hinojosa in conversation with Carla Goldstein (Poehler, Lamott, and Hinojosa to participate via video feed at the event)
  • Film screening of the PBS documentary How It Feels To Be Free and conversation with executive producer Lacey Schwartz Delgado and Salamishah Tillet
  • Music by Morley, Christopher Bruce, and Mayra Casales

The opening night session will be livestreamed for free, via Zoom and Facebook Live, as part of an ongoing series of Omega Conversations, beginning at 8:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, September 17.

For more than 40 years, Omega has provided interdisciplinary opportunities for human development with an integrated approach to personal growth and social change. The Omega Women’s Leadership Center is an outgrowth of this work. Supported by a highly esteemed and international advisory council, the OWLC offers a variety of opportunities for women to strengthen their leadership at home, at work, and in the world.

Since 2002, Omega has received generous scholarship funding to bring nearly 1,000 leaders of diverse backgrounds to OWLC conferences, workshops, and events. This year, approximately 75 scholarships have been provided for Women & Power.
