Below are some helpful tips, guidelines, requirements, and other important information for your trip to Omega Costa Rica.
Required Travel Documents
For entry into Costa Rica, United States citizens must present valid passports and a round trip/outbound ticket. Please check your passport for the expiration date; passports must be valid for 6 months after the time of arrival.
Before you go to Costa Rica, please make a copy of your passport, which you will need to carry with you at all times. You should leave your original passport in the safety box at Blue Spirit.
For additional details about traveling to Costa Rica, please visit the United States Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs and the U.S. Embassy in Costa Rica.
What to Bring
Please note it is not necessary to bring a yoga mat, and complimentary organic biodegradable toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, and soap) are provided in each room. Please use these products, as others may contain chemicals that are harmful to the onsite organic wastewater treatment.
Blue Spirit has a small store on-site. Should you forget essential items at home or are looking for snacks, books, gift items, clothing, or souvenirs, it offers a wide array of goods to purchase. You can pay cash or credit card.
However, it’s best to travel with the essentials. You may want to bring the following:
- Water bottle
- Insect repellent
- Sunscreen & Hat (for sun protection)
- Beach gear (suit, towel, and flip-flops)
- Walking/hiking shoes
- Alarm clock
- Hair dryer (Costa Rica has the same power voltage as the United States; no need for a power adapter)
Dollars & Colones
U.S. dollars are accepted at most locations in Nosara, Costa Rica, so changing dollars into colones (Costa Rican currency) is not necessary. It is best to bring small denominations of cash, nothing larger than a $20.
Blue Spirit accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and U.S. dollars. There is a bank and an ATM machine within a 15 minute drive from Blue Spirit Retreat. The ATM accepts only Visa and distributes only colones.
There is a charge of approximately $29.00 U.S. dollars at the airport upon departure. This can be paid in cash (U.S. dollars or colones) or by credit card.
A number of people work hard—cleaning, cooking, and maintaining the grounds—to make your stay at Blue Spirit a pleasant one. There is a suggested gratuity of $70 U.S. dollars per guest per week for these services, which will added to your room folio upon check-out—and which you may choose to increase or decrease as you find appropriate, when you check out.
Children & Teens
Omega's programs at Blue Spirit Costa Rica are not designed for children and teens. Blue Spirit Retreat does not have a childcare program or special activities for teens or children. While children and teens are welcome, parents are responsible for them at all times.
Blue Spirit Costa Rica has limited accommodations for those with disabilities; please call Omega Registration for details. An elevator allows access throughout the main building, which includes the classrooms and dining room. However, Blue Spirit is located on a hill by the beach, which can make the outdoor terrain difficult to maneuver.
