We may not consider discipline and freedom as compatible partners, but the life’s work of B.K.S. Iyengar is a testament to the fact that these two ideas complement and support one another.
Based on B.K.S. Iyengar’s teachings, this 5-day yoga intensive with Joan White takes us deep into the traditions of Iyengar Yoga, and deeper still into ourselves. A devoted student and friend of Iyengar for 41 years, White blends her sense of adventure with her deep respect for the Iyengar Yoga lineage to connect us with what Iyengar called “the core of our being.”
Open to enthusiastic students and teachers alike, we immerse ourselves in the discipline and freedom of yoga though asana, philosophy, and pranayama. In morning sessions, we explore the full range of classical postures as taught directly to White by Iyengar. This disciplined practice creates the flexibility of body and mind that leads to ultimate freedom.
In the afternoons, we gather to gain insight into the legacy of beloved teacher B.K.S. Iyengar. These discussions are followed by pranayama and other supportive and deeply restorative practices to integrate the body, mind, breath, and senses with the intelligence of the heart.
A minimum of 6 months of yoga experience is required.
