Yin Yoga uses long held postures that support us in accessing the deeper, more Yin part of ourselves. In this workshop we explore how Yin practice, with its ancient yogic roots, can positively affect our physical, energetic, and emotional bodies. Through this understanding we discover ways to incorporate Yin postures and philosophy into our practice and into our lives.

Biff Mithoefer, author ofThe Yin Yoga Kit, guides us as we:

  • Learn about Taoist philosophy as it applies to Yin Yoga
  • Explore the Yin practice of non-striving and how it can influence our yoga practice and our life
  • Notice the movement of qi, or prana, in the body and how it can be affected by Yin practice
  • Improve our understanding of anatomy and our natural patterns
  • Sequence our own Yin practice

Yoga teachers also learn how to lead a Yin class and incorporate Yin postures and philosophy into any yoga teaching or practice.

This workshop is suitable for yoga teachers and practitioners at all levels of experience.

Daily Open Classes in meditation, yoga, tai chi, or movement (subject to availability):

Biff Mithoefer, E-RYT 500, teaches Yin Yoga throughout the United States and internationally. He is author of The Yin Yoga Kit and coauthor of The Therapeutic Yoga Kit. Mithoefer is a founder and director of the Jamtse Sponsorship Project for the support of Tibetan refugee children.
