In the great healing traditions of Tibetan Buddhism and psychotherapy, there is a powerful appreciation for the wish to feel well, recover from all forms of suffering, and live a full and peaceful life. Join Pilar Jennings, psychoanalyst and author of To Heal a Wounded Heart, and The Venerable Khenpo Pema Wangdak, a Tibetan Buddhist monk and founding teacher of the Vikramasila Foundation, to explore a roadmap for healing in the Bodhisattva’s Way.

Together we’ll learn about the sacred Buddhist teachings in Shantideva’s Bodhisattva’s Way of Life and how to apply them to spiritual and psychological healing. Through meditation, discussions, and guided exercises, we discover methods for increasing self-compassion, addressing trauma, and releasing beliefs that limit happiness and meaningful connection with others.

This retreat is open to beginning and experienced meditators, as well as clinicians who want to apply the healing arts of Buddhist spirituality in clinical work.

Please note that Khenpo Pema Wangdak will only be teaching during Monday and Tuesday’s sessions and will not be present the rest of the week.

Faculty recommends you read the following books in preparation for the course:

  • A Guide to the Bodhisattva Way of Life by Santideva (Translations by Vesna A. Wallace and B. Alan Wallace)
  • To Heal a Wounded Heart: The Transformative Power of Buddhism and Psychotherapy in Action by Pilar Jennings
