Oct 12 - Oct 19 2018 Rhinebeck, NY

Intensive Price Tiers available; see description for details. Please call Omega at 877.944.2002 to register for this workshop.

Explore Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and other mindfulness-based programs in this 7-day intensive immersion and silent retreat.

Intensive Price Tiers: One of the ways Convergence stands for equality and access for all is by creating a pricing tier structure that invites participants to pay based on their income level. Please consider what is truly sustainable for you, and choose a price that feels in integrity: $1,500; $1,100; or $800.

To register, please call 877.944.2002.

During the last 39 years, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and other mindfulness-based programs (MBPs) have spread exponentially. Mindfulness is now being integrated into medicine, health care, psychology and education, and a wide range of other social institutions, including law, criminal justice, business, and leadership. In parallel, it is a focus of systematic research in medicine, health care, neuroscience, experiential learning theory, and workplace and organizational behavior.

Yet, as this interest in mindfulness expands, there is a gap in understanding regarding the origins, ethos, ethics, and heart of mindfulness as they are implicitly and explicitly expressed in MBSR. Through the doorway of meditative awareness, we’ll explore these domains while looking deeply into the causes of human distress, our resources for transformation and greater well-being, and the convergence of contemplative practice, science, and the democratic spirit of participation embodied in MBSR.

Embedded in seven days of silence, through ongoing practice and evening talks we will explore the universal qualities of mindfulness and their expression in contemporary, non-sectarian settings. Grounded in the spirit of warmth, curiosity, and befriending, this retreat is an intensive immersion in wakefulness cultivated through silent sitting and walking meditation, mindful movement and yoga, and group and individual meetings with the retreat teachers. Emphasis will be placed on intimacy with the body, mind, and heart, and the recognition of our innate courage, clarity, kindness, and insight.

This retreat requires no adherence to a particular faith tradition. It is suitable for those seeking an in-depth immersion in silence that is supported by a community of practice, as well as anyone teaching or aspiring to teach MBSR, and/or mindfulness in a range of institutional and social settings. It fulfills part of the silent retreat requirements for becoming a Certified MBSR Teacher through the University of Massachusetts Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society and Oasis Institute. Attendance at this retreat does not constitute authorization by Saki F. Santorelli, Florence Meleo-Meyer or Bob Stahl to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.
